Extra Planter instructions guide:

  1. Cut your clay using your wooden knife into 2, 480 grams each and knead your clay. Set the other 480 grams aside and the 40grams too (you will need this for your coil)
  2. The size of the pot must depend on the size of your hands. Gently pat and roll the clay with your hands so it comes out with a nice ball size
  3. Support the clay with one hand and press the thumb into the center of the clay. Make sure not to push your thumb into the clay, other wise you will create a donut.
  4. Keep pushing your thumb outwards. The distance of your thumb and supporting hand should be at least 1/2 inches. Once you feel your thumb is far enough into the clay, start pinching and stop pushing.
  5. Continue to pinch and start rotating the clay until you come up with a 'bowl' shape
  6. As you pinch, you might notice some cracks, simple blend them using your sponge (yellow sponge) dip dried with water
  7. Repeat 1-6 and create the same 'bowl' shape
  8. After creating the same shape, make sure that the bottom of your 'bowl' shapes are scored. Use your needle tool (looks like a needle with a handle) to 'scar' (criss cross) both the bottom of your bowls, dip your fingers with water and spread it onto the scarred surface. This scarring helps the two ends bond together securely.
  9. Attach your bowls ends to each other
  10. Then roll a coil of your remaining clay and wrap it around the 'neck' of your planter
  11. Use the potters rib (wooden, looks like a 1/4 semi circle) and blend it. You can also use your fingers to blend it up and down
  12. After your are contented with the shape, use your scraper (aluminum kidney shape) to evenly
  13. Let it dry for 3-4 weeks prior to firing and glazing at your local pottery place
  14. Well done!!
